Headlight View

A rendered 3D model of a speedshape, the car-body-shaped panel coatings are judged on, painted half with RheoLight and half with the same paint without it. A light sits beside your eye, as headlights sit beside a driver's. Orbit the shape: the RheoLight half sends the light back toward you, the other half goes dark.

What is RheoLight?

A coating with Crystal Glass Pigments that send part of the light that hits them back toward its source. A painted surface lit by headlights then looks brighter to the person behind them.

What can I change in Headlight View?

The RheoLight dosage (0 to 16 %), the basecoat (dark grey, red, silver or blue metallic), a split or a full coating, and how far the light sits from your eye. Move the light away from your eye and the glow fades: the returned light stays close to the light source.

Is Headlight View a measurement?

No. It is a rendered model with draft values: Crystal Glass Pigment coverage follows c(d) = 0.20 (1 - e^(-d / 12 %)) until it is fitted to retroreflectometer data. Measured results are on the Measure and Twin-Flop Explained pages.
